INDUSTRY 4.0, also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is the integration of advanced digital technologies into industrial manufacturing and production processes. This revolution involves the adoption of cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, data analytics, advanced robotics and other emerging technologies. The goal of this industry is to create smart and efficient factories, where production systems are interconnected, communicate and make decisions autonomously. This allows for increased automation, production optimization, cost reduction, quality improvement and greater flexibility to respond to market demand.
BIM
“Building information modelling” is a collaborative working methodology based on a centralized information network in digital format. This is developed and shared in real time by all those involved in the various phases of the asset, from design, construction and maintenance to refurbishment or demolition. This is achieved using rigorous and up-to-date standards and cutting-edge technologies, with the aim of reducing the impact on the environment by reducing waste and management costs during the asset's life cycle.
HBIM
“Heritage Build information modeling” it is the BIM working methodology applied to architectural and historical heritage, in which the process instead of starting with a sketch or a project it begins with a Reverse Engineering of the heritage object.
MEP
It stands for "Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing".
HVAC
It stands for "Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning".
LOD
It stands for "Level Of Development", it’s the level of development or geometric detail of a digital model.
LOI
It stands for "Level Of Information", it’s the level of information or the amount of data and/or metadata in a digital model.
CDE
It stands for "Common Data Environment", which is an information management and sharing platform. It is indispensable for projects based on the BIM or HBIM methodology.
ERP
It stands for "Enterprise Resource Planning” – Management applications.
CMMS
It stands for “Computerized Maintenance Management System” – Applications for monitoring and managing maintenance operations.
MES
It stands for "Manufacturing Execution System" – Process and production management applications.
MOM
It stands for “Manufacturing Operations Management” – Manufacturing process and performance analysis applications.
OEE
It stands for "Overall Equipment Effectiveness" – Applications for managing the efficiency of production equipment.
